The History of 1535 Shediac RCACC

The first Army Cadet Corps in Shediac was 1535 St. Joseph’s School Cadet Corps, formed in 1931. At the time it was part of  “A” Company of District #7 Militia. The Corps was disbanded in 1934, but later that same year, 1543 Shediac Superior Corps was formed and later disbanded. In 1948, a new Corps was formed in Shediac, 2307 Saint-Coeur-de-Marie Army Cadet Corps. It was active until 14 November 1957, when it was also disbanded.

There was an absence of an Army Cadet Corps in Shediac for 40 years. Through the efforts of The Army Cadet League of Canada (NB), 1535 Shediac Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps was formed in Shediac on September of 1997.  The Corps was sponsored by The Town of Shediac, Branch #33 Royal Canadian Legion and the Shediac Town Police. Previous Army Cadet Units had strong associations with Canadian Forces Armoured Regiments. It was natural that the 8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise’s) accepted 1535 RCACC as its affiliated unit. The Corps original Headquarters was located at Louis-J-Robichaud High School but in 2020, relocated to the Pointe-du-Chene Community Centre.

The following are the Commanding Officers of 1535 RCACC:
